TRUSTING YOUR DOCTORS

If you looked up the word 'trust' in Webster's dictionary, the first entry reads …'the assured reliance on the character, ability and strength of someone or something'.

The second entry uses words like 'hope' and 'to expect with confidence'.

You have just had a very traumatic change in your life that puts you in the hands of a lot of different people that are going to play major roles in your healing process and it is vital that you TRUST them.

Doctors, nurses, and physical therapists, just to name a few, are all people that will be helping to put you back together and you have to have confidence in their abilities. They have had years of education and training and they have dedicated their careers to being what you need at this time. THEY ARE THE EXPERTS… LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.

There is, however, one small item you need to be aware of. Not all health care professionals are this fabulous. Some of them are downright awful. They can be arrogant, condescending, negative, and not have time for one small question. These types of people should not be in the health care industry, and if you are dealing with a healthcare professional like this, the best thing to do is GET RID OF THEM. Remember, you are the boss and it is completely within your rights to make a change in the people who are caring for you.

Making changes in an already scary situation can seem impossible but sometimes it is the best thing to do. Discuss your fears and concerns with your family or support system and use their input. Perhaps they can be the one that actually does the necessary talking with the healthcare professional if you are feeling vulnerable.

It can be a positive experience in more ways than one- not only will you be removing something negative and replacing it with something positive, but you will feel empowered when you realize you are still the one that is in control of your own life. 'I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR'. Or man.
